William Jackson III (6-foot-0, 190 pounds), CB, Houston

The more I look at Jackson’s film the more I like this guy. Vernon Hargreaves is a great athlete, but he does have some size problems. I really like Artie Burns, but he is still a project. Mackensie Alexander is also a good player, but he lacks the size.

Jackson has the size, length and speed to be successful at the next level.

In 2015, Jackson was targeted 93 times but allowed just 46 catches. He had five interceptions and twelve passes defended. Quarterbacks had a 57.9 passer rating against him.

Jackson is also effective against the run. The Chicago Bears had serious problems against the run last season, so getting run support will be a welcome addition.

Today’s receivers are tall and big, so having a corner who can battle with them is crucial for success. Jackson is able to affect a receiver’s route, and when the ball is up in the air, he will fight hard for it.

Jackson also has elite speed. He ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, and in his Pro Day he ran an even better 4.32.

That elite speed is what teams love. Even if he bites on a move, he has the makeup speed to correct his mistake.

Jackson may go late in the first round, but some scouts are wary of him because of the competition he faced playing in Houston. He may fall to the early second round and that may help Pace.

The Chicago Bears did not do anything to address their cornerback unit through free agency, so that lends to the belief that Pace will go for one pretty early. William Jackson III would be a good choice.
