Jerell Adams (6-foot-5, 247 pounds), TE, South Carolina

With Bennett gone, the Chicago Bears are in need of a tight end. They did re-sign Zach Miller, but he has an injury history, and it would be difficult to depend on him after one good season.

Adams had the misfortune of dealing with the South Carolina quarterbacks. The Gamecocks had one of the worst passers in the nation.

Even with the bad quarterbacking, Adams had a career-high in receptions (28), yards (429) and touchdowns (3).

Adams is a freakishly good athlete. In high school, he played quarterback, tight end, linebacker, defensive end and punter. He also played power forward on the basketball team.

Adams will give his quarterback a big target. He is long and rangy and has a large catch radius. He runs good routes, and is faster than he looks because of his long strides.

Adams had a good Combine, having run the fastest 40-yard run, and showed good athleticism in position drills. Add to that a good week during the Senior Bowl, and that increased his stock. In a draft that is thin at tight end, Adams could be a pleasant surprise and help the Chicago Bears offense.

Adams is a player the Bears need to go after, unless his two months of work after the season makes him too expensive to go after.
