Chicago Bears free agency: Top players to target
Danny Trevathan, Inside Linebacker
The Chicago Bears have a lot of holes in the defense. One of them is at inside linebacker.
I don’t know what it is about him, but Shea McClellin just can’t get out of Chicago. After four mediocre seasons, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio still refers to him as a “stud” who could help the Bears’ defense.
I still think that with a better running mate, Christian Jones could be an impact player.
Danny Trevathan could be that running mate.
Once a team wins a Super Bowl, it becomes time to start paying the players. There are too many good players on the Broncos team for them to pay all of them, so some will leave and help other teams. That will be the case with Trevathan.
While at the Super Bowl, Trevathan already had the Bears on his mind. He spoke about talking to Chicago and Fox, his former coach.
The Chicago Bears were one of the worst defensive units against the run in 2015. They ranked 22nd in rushing yards allowed.
Trevathan could help change that.

Trevathan is known as one of the best run-stuffers in the NFL. He is also a hard hitter. He would also help the Bears with turnovers. Just in the Super Bowl, he had two fumble recoveries. He would be a leader in the locker room, and help youngsters like Jones.
Adding Trevathan would free the Bears up to go after a pass rushing linebacker in the first round of the draft, thus improving their pass rushing abilities. It would also improve their team speed, something Pace has said he wanted more of for the Chicago Bears defense.
If the Chicago Bears do end up picking up Malik Jackson and/or Danny Trevathan, it would be sweet emotion for John Fox, who would enjoy taking a bite out of John Elway‘s Super team after he dumped him in 2014.
