Chicago Bears free agency: Top players to target
Ladarius Green, Tight End
The Chicago Bears will have a need at tight end. Martellus Bennett has been a headache with his attitude towards teammates and his whining about his contract. Zach Miller had a good season in 2015, but he is apparently asking for a lot of money ($5 million per seasons) for a player who has an injury history and has been a career backup player.
Ladarius Green could be a good pickup.
The San Diego Chargers will continue with Antonio Gates as the main tight end option, but he is advancing in age. They would want to also keep Green, but there is a thin tight end free agent class this year, so Green may be in high demand.
Green had 37 receptions for 429 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to tight end, he could also be used to split out as a wide receiver. At 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, he gives Cutler a nice, big target, especially in the red zone, where the Bears struggled to score touchdowns in 2015.
The Chargers would like to keep Green, but after playing in the shadow of Gates, he may be ready to strike out on his own and show that he could become a star as well. With Alshon Jeffery back in the fold and Kevin White healthy, adding Green would give the Chicago Bears a good receiving corps once again.
