By Jeremy Karll
The Chicago White Sox once again had a busy off-season as they try to stay competitive in the tough Central division.
The Chicago White Sox are coming off a 76-86 season, one in which was a disappointment despite their improved record and roster. Players took steps back, especially after the beginning of the season, and last year’s off-season signings were non-factors for much of the first half of the season.

Melky Cabrera wasn’t able to find his bat until late last season, and Adam LaRoche was misused all season, and as a result struggled mightily from the plate as the team’s designated hitter. Jeff Samardzija was not the same dominant pitcher he was a year ago for the Chicago Cubs, and is now a member of the San Francisco Giants for that reason.
While the acquisitions during last off-season were disappointing, it showed that the White Sox had a lot of holes to fill this past off-season if they want to be competitive in the tough AL Central. Rick Hahn once again worked the free agent market, as well as puling off a couple huge trades.
The White Sox ended up making six notable moves this off-season, which will have a major impact on how the team fares this season.
