William Jackson III, Cornerback, Houston

Here is a name not many are talking about. They should be, since it appears the Chicago Bears are very interested in him.

Jackson has what most teams look for in a corner — he has the speed to keep up with the top receivers, and he has the height to go up and get the ball or break up a pass.

In 2015, Jackson recorded 43 tackles, five interceptions and 23 passes broken up. His numbers went up each season he played at Houston.

Jackson is an aggressive corner who attacks a pass much the way a receiver goes for the ball. He can play press or off, and does not get beat deep. He has good instincts for the ball, and will help the Bears defense with their problem of not forcing enough turnovers.

What Jackson needs to do is gain some muscle on his frame. He is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds so he has room to fill out his body. While he can go after the ball with receivers, his lack of physicality may hurt him.

Jackson is projected to be a starter in the NFL. If he lands in Chicago, he would have a very good teacher in Tracy Porter to help him get accustomed to the NFL life. Porter did a great job with Kyle Fuller in 2015, and helped him turn his season around after starting out badly.

With Jackson’s height and length, to go along with his speed, he could be an integral part of any NFL team’s defense, especially the Chicago Bears.
