Chicago Bears free agency: Safeties
Eric Berry, 27
Eric Berry is the story of the NFL in 2015. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma after complaining of chest pain in November of 2014.
Berry was cleared to play this past July, and proved he was all better. He had 61 tackles, two interceptions and ten passes defended. He was named to the Pro Bowl and made All Pro.
The odds of Berry being available are slim. The Kansas City Chiefs want him back, and he wants to return as well, so they are trying to come up with a deal.

If the two sides cannot come up with a deal now, Berry will have the franchise tag slapped on him. Chances of him hitting the open market this season are slim.
If, by chance, Berry does become a free agent, there will be a slew of teams bidding for his services.
Berry’s story is great, but there should be some concerns. Chemotherapy takes a lot out of someone. He was completely focused on this season, but how will HIS body take the rigors of the next four seasons or so? He is not a normal 27-year old.

If Berry is available, Pace will have to decide if the price is too high. There are many holes on this defense, and they need to allocate their money on different positions. He is a very good player, though, so let’s see.
