Ryan Mundy — Strong Safety

Ryan Mundy had a decent season in 2014, his first with the Chicago Bears. In 2015, he was a little shaky before an injury knocked him out for the season.

After Tracy Porter took him number in 2015, it may appear that Mundy’s time in Chicago is over. I would not be so sure, however.

Mundy can be a dependable player in a rotation. The Bears will (again) go after a safety in the draft, but I believe it will be a free safety.

Mundy can help add depth to the Bears’ secondary. Since he is coming back from an injury, Pace can sign him to a one-year “prove it” contract that is the rage in the NFL.

I do not think Mundy is suitable to be a starter anymore. He was signed last season for $1.5 million, so another season at around that salary may be what the Chicago Bears do.

Mundy could also help young Adrian Amos develop. Amos had a pretty good season, and he has a chance to stay in Chicago for some time. Developing under a veteran like Mundy could really help his play.

He may not wear the number 21 again, but Ryan Mundy should still remain a Chicago Bears player.
