Chicago Bears free agency: Wide receivers
Marvin Jones — Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert as their primary receivers, so a guy like Marvin Jones can get lost in the shuffle. They also have Mohamed Sanu, so someone in that rotation will not be getting the ball nearly enough for his taste. We know that it won’t be Green.
Every season he has played, Jones has improved his numbers (he was injured in 2014 so he had no stats). He started out with 18 receptions for 201 yards. He improved to 51 receptions and 712 yards in his second season, and this season he had 65 receptions for 816 yards.

This offseason and next, the Bengals have a plethora of players who will hit free agency. In addition to Jones, Sanu, Adam Jones, Reggie Nelson and George Iloka will hit the market this offseason, and have Andrew Whitworth, Dre Kirkpatrick and Giovani Bernard become free agents next offseason.
The Bengals will not be able to pay everyone, and with their playoff disasters, some players will decide to bolt and try to win elsewhere.
Jones is a tough receiver who can make the difficult catch, and is difficult to bring down. He can get yards after the catch, something that the Chicago Bears need. Sometimes you need big chunks of yards to make it easier to score rather than always depend on dinks and dunks to move downfield.

An investment by the Chicago Bears in Jones would be a good one. He still has potential to get even better. He is ready to break out of Green’s shadow and show how he can help take over a game.
