The Chicago Bears have to solidify their wide receivers corps. They must decide whether to bring Alshon Jeffery back. If they don’t, they need a replacement. Even if they do, they still need to add depth.

The Chicago Bears’ wide receivers corps suffered through a boatload of injuries in 2015. They lost their top three receivers at some point or another. Alshon Jeffery played in just nine games, Eddie Royal also played in just nine games. Meanwhile, Kevin White, their 2015 first round pick, missed the entire season.

Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears needed to depend on some no-name receivers to win games.

They also tried to depend on Marquess Wilson, who many said would be a prominent player on the offense. He was again inconsistent, and injuries again cut down his season. I think the Wilson experiment should be ended.

Now general manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox have to revamp the unit. They first need to decide whether to bring Jeffery back.

Jeffery is a dynamic receiver. He has a tremendous catch radius and makes catches that other receivers just cannot make. The problem is keeping him on the field. If you are going to pay the man a king’s ransom, you want him on the field, and Jeffery has not shown the ability to work through pain.

The Bears could always franchise him, and give him another season to show he can stay healthy. If they do keep him, they still need to add depth and solidify the position.

I think the Chicago Bears will end up drafting another wide receiver, but they still need a veteran presence. If they indeed keep Jeffery, they can get a lower-tiered veteran. If they let Jeffery walk, they may have to look for a higher-tiered receiver, one the Bears feel could fit better than Jeffery.

In the end, I believe the Chicago Bears will ultimately franchise Jeffery and pick up another receiver. They have the money to pick up a valuable receiver, and they will want to solidify Cutler’s targets.
