Chicago Bears draft prospects: Wide receivers
Kenny Lawler (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) — California
If you want a player as close to having the abilities as Jeffery, look at Lawler. He has the height and the long arms to jump and get to the ball.
Lawler shows a penchant for making the spectacular play. He has good hands, and can leap and make the one-handed catch when needed.
Lawler has good speed and long strides. He can blow by defenders, and has the agility to maneuver around them as well.
Physically, Lawler will need to bulk up a little. At under 200 pounds, his body will not be able to take the rigors of a tough NFL schedule.
Like Jeffery when he was coming out of college, Lawler will have to be more consistent in his game. He can go out and have three touchdown games and big yards, but he may also have a game where he will go unnoticed. Once he studies film and prepares like a professional, his talent could go off the chart.
Lawler has a nose for the end zone. He had 13 touchdowns in 2015, and 27 touchdowns for his career. The Chicago Bears had trouble in the red zone in 2015, not scoring nearly enough touchdowns, so having a guy like Lawler would boost the offense.
Lawler would be an excellent pickup for the Chicago Bears. He should be a starter in the pros, and he may be a number one receiver. If the Bears have Jeffery, White and Lawler, that would be an incredible combination, and would open things up for the tight ends and backs.
