Chicago Bears draft prospects: Wide receivers
Aaron Burbridge (6-foot-1, 208 pounds) — Michigan State
Burbridge had a breakout season for the Spartans in 2015. After totaling 364, 194 and 358 yards during his first three seasons at Michigan State, he had 1,258 yards in his senior season.
Burbridge has good strength for his position. He has the hand strength to win battles against defensive backs. He is a very good route runner, and will usually be where he needs to be to catch the ball.
Burbridge does not have blazing speed, but he is quick enough to get some yards after catch. He could be a good possession receiver at the next level. He is tough in traffic and can go up the middle and take hits without dropping the ball very much. He is also a good blocker.
Burbridge fights well for the ball. He will not wait for the ball to get to him. He will go after it at its highest point and yank it in. You would be surprised to see how many receivers just don’t do that.
Burbridge has the talent to be a starter in the NFL. Michigan State plays a pro-style offense, so he does not have to go through learning a pro offense that most spread offense players have. He would be a very good number two receiver, and could be someone who earns Jay Cutler’s trust.
