Chicago Bears free agency: Offensive linemen
Cordy Glenn, Tackle — Buffalo Bills
You want a guy who stays in the lineup and works his tail off to do so.
In his four seasons at Buffalo, Glenn has not missed a game due to injury, and he has started in the 61 games he has played. He was on the left side of the Bills’ line, protecting Tyrod Taylor and helped Buffalo lead the league in rushing yards (152 yards per game).
Glenn does a good job of protecting his quarterback. In 2015, he allowed just one sack, and just 16 disruptions (hurries, knockdowns, etc). Cutler would love that kind of protection. So would the Chicago Bears team physicians as well.
Head coach Rex Ryan loves the way Glenn goes about his business. “The guy is a phenomenal guy,” the coach said. “I just see a guy that goes about his job. He does his business every single day. He’s a tough cat. I love the way he prepares. His demeanor never changes. He’s a class act.”
There could be a bidding war on Glenn. Teams are always looking for offensive linemen, and having an elite one like Glenn at just 26 would be something most crave. Buffalo knows this, and they will pull out the stops to try to keep him (even though they are restricted with the salary cap).
General manager Ryan Pace is looking for high-character players as well as good players, and Glenn would fit that bill. He is a quiet, low-key guy who is dependable and can keep the quarterback healthy.
