Eli Apple (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) — Ohio State

Apple could be a darkhorse to sneak into the first round. In addition to being tall and having a solid build, he also has long arms, which helps him disrupt receivers.

Apple does not shy away from contact. He is a physical back, and when he jumps up for the ball, he fights like hell to get it. He is ultra competitive, he takes on blockers and blows past them, and he throws his body around as a run defender.

Apple is also strong-minded. He will not let a big play against him linger. He has a short memory, and that will help him in the NFL.

At the next level, Apple will need to improve his hand placement. He is too hands-on downfield, and that can lead to a lot of pass interference or defensive holding calls. He also needs to improve his play when his back is to the line of scrimmage.

Apple can also be too aggressive, especially when trying to break down before tackling a runner. He needs to improve his tackling skills, as he had too many missed tackles. That will really hurt you at the pro level.

Apple is a red-shirt sophomore, so he has some learning to do. With his abilities, though, NFL teams will be willing to deal with some growing pains. When he figures things out, he can be a Pro Bow-type players.
