Chicago Bears Draft Prospects: Outside Linebackers
Kyler Fackrell (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) — Utah State
Fackrell was named to the All-American Fourth Team this season. It was great for him, considering he returned from a knee injury he suffered in the first game of the 2014 season.
It appeared that the knee was not a problem for Fackrell. He seemed to be in the right place at the right time, leading the nation in fumble recoveries with five.
Fackrell also showed the ability to get into the backfield. Of his 76 tackles, 13.5 were for losses. He led the team with 12 quarterback hurries and tied for the team lead in sacks with four.
The Chicago Bears need someone just like Fackrell — someone who can get into the backfield and cause some havoc. He tied for the team lead with two forced fumble, and he had a fumble recovery for a touchdown as well.
Fackrell can fit right into the Chicago Bears’ defensive scheme. Utah State runs a similar 3-4 hybrid scheme that the Bears run, so Fackrell was able to not just rush the passer, but also drop back in coverage.
Fackrell is projected to be a mid-round selection (3rd or 4th round), so he could be a good pick there. If he is there in the fourth round, the Chicago Bears should use their pick on him.
