Ken Whisenhunt

Fox considered Whisenhunt the leading candidate to be the Denver Broncos’ offensive coordinator in 2013 after Mike McCoy left to become the San Diego Chargers’ head coach.

Whisenhunt has the experience to earn respect from Cutler. He was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for six seasons, and led them to the Super Bowl in the 2008 season. He also coached the Tennessee Titans for the past season-and-a-half, and was a coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers.

Sure, Whisenhunt did not have any success in Tennessee, but who has in the past decade? With Bud Adams’ death, ownership has been a mess. His heirs have not worked together, and it is unknown whether they stay as owners or if they sell the team.

Remember, too, that Fox has a reputation of being great to work under. He gives his assistants the freedom to work without him budding in too much.

Fox also has the ability to reform the reputations of his assistants.

When Jack Del Rio went to Denver to coach under Fox, he came from a bad experience in Jacksonville, and was considered damaged goods. He used his time under Fox to show what he can do, and now he is leading the Oakland Raiders back to prominence.

Fox could do the same for Whisenhunt. Being in Tennessee can really hurt a coach’s ego. Having success in Chicago would be great for both the Bears and Whisenhunt.

Whisenhunt has a good offensive mind. His offenses finished in the top ten three times. His passing attack finished in the top ten four times, three of them in the top three.

With Whisenhunt’s ability to work well with quarterbacks, he could be a good influence on Cutler. His system has worked, so he is a viable candidate.
