The young Cubs really came through this season

One of the reasons many did not give the Cubs much of a chance to make it to the playoffs was because they had so many players on the roster who hadn’t yet played an entire season.

Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell, Jorge Soler and Javier Baez are all players who had a hand in helping the Cubs win games this season.

Bryant is the prohibitive favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year. Schwarber came into the season late, but he had a home run and three RBI in Wednesday’s game.

Day in and day out, these kids go out and forget about the pressure and just perform. They are not concerned with how they are supposed to be scared of the big stage. They go out and get the job done.

This is a fun team to watch. The players don’t get too low when they lose, and, as I wrote earlier, they celebrate wins in style. Maddon wants them to enjoy their wins for a little while, then go on to the next game.

That is how they went about the Wild Card win. They celebrated hard, and I am sure that today they are working on beating the Cardinals. The fact that they are playing a division rival makes it even more fun for them. They want to beat this team. They already got into a skirmish with them recently, so this should be an intense, chippy series.

One thing for sure is that these young kids will not back down from anyone.
