Jake Arrieta is on a historic run that may not be repeated

What Arrieta is doing is just incredible. He has been the rock for the Chicago Cubs’ rotation.

Arrieta just posted the best second half of any pitcher in baseball history.

Since the All-Star break, Arrieta pitched in fifteen games. In those games, the Cubs were 14-1. His record in those games was 12-1. The only loss was because the opposing pitcher threw a no-hitter.

In 107-and-1/3 innings, he has a 0.75 ERA (he allowed just nine earned runs) and a 0.73 WHIP. His BAA (batting average against) was .148 and he had 1113 strikeouts to go against just 23 walks. His BABIP (batting average on balls hit in play) was just .207 so he was unhittable.

That continued Wednesday as Arrieta shut out the Pirates. His historic run kept going, as he became the first pitcher ever to throw a complete game shutout with 10+ strikeouts (he had 11) and NO WALKS.

In addition to that, he even stole a base!

The Pirates were so frustrated going against Arrieta on Wednesday that they felt the need to hit him to try to get him off his game. It did not work.

Arrieta is must-see baseball right now. Every single time he goes to the mound, everyone should watch to see what else he does. Will he hit a home run (he has two this season)? Will he throw a no-hitter (he has one this season)?

You have to watch what Arrieta is doing, because this run may never be repeated.
