Chicago Bulls All Time Starting Five Players
Scoring Guard — Michael Jordan (1984-1992, 1994-1997)
Mike, His Airness, M.J., Money, Air Jordan. Those are the nicknames given to Michael Jeffery Jordan. There is another one that is appropriate — the GOAT (greatest of all time).
Jordan hit the NBA in 1984 and revolutionized basketball in many ways. From the baggy shorts, to the signature shoes, to the high-flying dunks to having a scoring champion winning a title, Jordan had a significant part in changing the game.
The numbers are mind boggling. He scored 29,277 points as a Bull. He averaged 31.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Jordan played the game with a passion and a competitive streak that was second to none. He played every game hard, and he took every slight as a slap in the face.
It took Michael Jordan and his Bulls to win in his seventh season in the league. Once he got there, no one won the title but the Bulls in his last six fulls seasons with the team.
The list of players not to win a title because of the Jordan-led Bulls could make up one of the best teams in NBA history. John Stockton, Karl Malone, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing are just a small sample of players denied by Jordan.
When you talk about the Chicago Bulls, you talk about them pre-Jordan and post-Jordan. The pre-Jordan teams are not remembered much, but the post-Jordan Bulls are popular to this day. Before Jordan, the Bulls could not give away tickets to home games. After Jordan, however, the Bulls are at the top of league attendance year in and year out.
Michael Jordan is a player that no Chicago Bulls fan does not know. I have a ten year old nephew who never saw Jordan play live, but watched many of his games on youtube or whenever the NBA channel shows classic games. He feels all the excitement I felt when I experienced it firsthand. He is almost as big as a fan of Jordan as I am.
Jordan may be the current owner of the Charlotte Hornets, but for Chicagoans he will always be a Chicago Bull.
There you have it, my list of the all-time top five starters for the Chicago Bulls. What do you think? Do you disagree? Do you agree? Let me know.
