Center Field — Hack Wilson (1926-1931)

Hack Wilson did not play a long time — he played twelve seasons, six of them with the Cubs — but in his short playing career he hit well enough to be thought of with the greats.

In 850 games with the Cubs, Wilson got 1,017 hits. He hit .322/.412/.590,with 190 home runs and 769 RBI. He captured four home run titles in his time in Chicago.

Wilson had one of the greatest seasons in baseball history in 1930, when he hit .356/.454/.723, with 56 home runs and 191 RBI. The home run total was a National League record that stood for 68 years, while his RBI total is still a major league record that may never be broken.

Wilson was just as big off the field as he was on it. His legendary nights out on the town in Chicago and other cities rivaled those of Babe Ruth. Chicago fans are known to love their baseball players, and one of the most loved baseball players was Hack Wilson.
