Jay Cutler may no longer be the long-term answer for the Bears at the quarterback position but that doesn’t mean that Cutler shouldn’t be one of your fantasy quarterbacks in 2015.

After finishing with fantasy rankings for quarterbacks in the mid-20s over the course of the past three seasons, Cutler broke out in terms of fantasy rankings during the 2014 season. Cutler finished the season with 256 fantasy points (standard scoring) and that is mark that was 14th highest among quarterbacks last season.

Cutler’s ascension among fantasy quarterback rankings could continue in 2015.

The difference for the Bears’ offense in 2015 will be that unit will succeed with Cutler as their quarterback and not because Cutler is their quarterback. Between three legitimate wide receivers in Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White, and Eddie Royal; a dual-threat running back in Matt Forte; and a Pro-Bowl tight end in Martellus Bennett, pressure will be taken off Cutler’s shoulders in 2015.

Furthermore, new Bears’ offensive coordinator Adam Gase is expected to run an offense that is similar to what the Bears ran under Mike Martz during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Cutler was top-15 fantasy quarterback in 2010 and was on his way to an even better ranking in 2011 before his season ended 10 games in with a thumb injury.

Cutler does not have to be your starting fantasy quarterback in 2015, but one may be hard pressed in finding a better fantasy backup quarterback than Cutler in 2015.
