After the trade of veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets during the off-season, Alshon Jeffery is entering his first season as the Bears’ primary wide receiver. With that comes the expectation that Jeffery will fully establish himself as a top wide receiver in the NFL.
The argument could be made that running back Matt Forte has the most fantasy value as the Bears’ entering the 2015 season, but Forte’s value could take a hit with head coach John Fox planning to implement a running back committee throughout the year.
Enter Jeffery.
Jeffery is entering an important season in 2015 as the fourth-year wide receiver will finally be viewed as Bears’ primary wide receiver. After playing the past three seasons on the opposing side of veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall, Jeffery will now be the focal point of the Bears’ passing offense.
Towards the end of 2014 season, Jeffery began to emerge as the Bears’ primary wide receiver. Jeffery finished the season with 1,133 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns on 85 receptions. Jeffery’s numbers could have been greater as the wide receiver dealt with an injury throughout the early weeks of the 2014 season.
Jeffery saw the money that the Dallas Cowboys paid Dez Bryant and the Denver Broncos paid Demaryius Thomas this off-season. With a successful 2015 season, Jeffery could put himself in line to receiver a similar contract from the Bears next off-season.
