Durrell Eskridge, FS, Syracuse
Durrell Eskridge is a fluid, athletic safety with good body control. He has long arms that he uses well to wrap up ball carriers. He likes to hit, and hit with pop.
Eskridge is 6-foot-3 and weighs 208 pounds so he has the prototypical body. He can gain a little bit of weight.
Eskridge is an interesting story. He was actually considering going pro after his redshirt sophomore season. He had a difficult childhood where he and his family were homeless. He is going pro now because of financial hardship.
Eskridge should stay in school another year to be more seasoned, but it is understandable why he is leaving early. He has a good nose for the football, however. In his career, he has five interceptions, two forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and a blocked punt.
Syracuse played around with the idea of using Eskridge at different positions, like wide receiver. I think if you give him a year to learn the NFL way of playing, he will reward the Bears with some really good play.
