Ryan Pace feels that a team could never have enough pass rushers. That could signal that even though the Bears already have some pass rushers on the roster, and even though they signed another one in McPhee, if Beasley or Fowler is available, Pace could go that way.

On the other hand, the Bears have a need at wide receiver. The Royal signing was not sufficient enough to take care of the glaring hole that not having Marshall created. Of that is the case, he should go after Parker. He has the strength to make catches like Marshall did, and he has a nose for the end zone, which is the most important aspect of a wide receiver.

What Pace should do, though, is trade down. Pace is a strong believer in building through the draft. “The recipe to winning Super Bowls is stringing successful drafts together again and again,” Pace said in his introductory press conference.

With that philosophy, he should trade down in the first round so he can get more draft picks. There may be teams interested in going after, say, Mariota or Cooper, and if they are available at seven, the Bears could be sitting pretty.

The name of the game is to have as many choices as possible. Trading that seventh pick will give them the most choices. There are plenty of players in every Bears’ area of need who could fit in well in the Bears system. Pick up a couple of more picks and the path to legitimacy could be shorter for the Bears.
