Chicago Bears 2015 Draft: Top Defensive Tackles To Target

Eddie Goldman (6-foot-3, 320 pounds), Florida State
Eddie Goldman is another example of a big man who is also athletic.
Goldman is quick off the snap, and uses his hands well to get into the blocker’s chest. He has the strength to extend and control.
Goldman plays with his knees bent, allowing him to get leverage on blockers. He has the balance with his feet to be able to string plays out wide. He has good lower body strength to bull rush interior linemen deep into the pocket.

Goldman is versatile. He can play the 3-4 or 4-3, and he can play nose tackle, defensive tackle and even some defensive end.
Goldman is not going to be a consistent pass rush threat. He is built more to anchor the line of scrimmage. He needs to learn the finer details of pass rushing. He needs to get his arms up more to deflect passes, and he needs to recognize cut blocks.
If the Bears decide to keep Jeremiah Ratliff for a season or two, Goldman can work well in a rotation while he gets better. Adding his versatility allows Fangio to give opponents different looks.
