Jordan Phillips (6-foot-6, 334 pounds), Oklahoma

Jordan Phillips is a behemoth. He has the size to play the middle. His weight is also distributed well. He has long limbs and thick lower half, which helps him get leverage.

Phillips has terrific upper body strength so he is able to knock centers off-balance with his first move.

As big as he is, Phillips is really athletic. He has good initial quickness to go with his power, and has good lateral agility. He shows an impressive straight-line speed for his size.

He has good hand quickness to slap attempts by blockers to latch onto him. He also has an effective swim move that helps him slip away from blockers.

Sometimes Phillips stands up at the snap, which nullifies his strength. He has to use his length better. Despite his height and having long arms, he broke up just two passes in 27 games played.

Speaking of 27 games, Phillips played 11 games in 2012 as a reserve, but played in just four in 2013 when he needed back surgery. He came back and started 12 games in 2014, recording 32 tackles (7 for loss) and 2 sacks, making the All Big-12 second team.

Phillips is projected to go late in the first round or early second round. If he has a good combine and shows that he still has no ill effects from his back problems, he could shoot up the boards. If he ends up in the middle of the first round, the Bears could take a flyer only if they trade down and get more picks.
