Chicago Bears Week 15: What To Look For

Give Matt Forte the damn ball, part 73.
Again, I am begging, I am pleading, please give Matt Forte the damn ball! It is a complete mystery why Forte isn’t given the ball. Forte is one of the premiere running backs in the league, yet it seems his own coach doesn’t realize that.
I understand that in a lot of games the Bears were down so much so soon that they had to abandon the run. Well, maybe if they went to the run early, they would not be down so much so soon.
Having as poor a defense as the Bears have, it is critical to keep that unit off the field as much as possible. Using the run chews up a great deal of the clock. If you throw three times and cannot complete the passes, you don’t use any of the clock.
Forte has been one of the few bright spots in this miserable season. He broke his own team record for receptions in a season, and leads all running backs in receptions. At one point, he even led the NFL in receptions.
I always go back to what the Dallas Cowboys did with Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray. After taking some of the plays away from Romo and giving them to Murray, the Cowboys went from an eternal 8-8 team to a team with a 10-4 record and on the brink of a division title.
The Bears need to do the same with Forte. Give him the ball and take some of the decision-making away from Cutler. Take the ball out of his hands a bit, and you will see a drop in turnovers committed by Cutler. Even Cutler admits that the Bears cannot win throwing 50 passes a game. I just don’t understand how everyone around the league can see it, but Trestman can’t.
