Most Disappointing Player: Doug McDermott

Nov 1, 2014; Minneapolis, MN, USA; Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott (3) looks on during the second quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center. The Bulls defeated the Timberwolves 106-105. Mandatory Credit: Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

I didn’t want to do this because this kid’s offensive firepower at Creighton was phenomenal, but Doug McDermott hasn’t been quite the sharpshooter the Bulls traded for on draft night back in June.

  • In 17 games, “McBuckets” is shooting an abysmal 23.1 percent from long range on the season (6/26) and hasn’t shown that supreme, yet quiet confidence he displayed during his four years in the college ranks.

Now, don’t get me wrong, as bad as McDermott has been — and with a current knee issue not helping matters — he can be just as good with time and patience from the Bulls organization and their fans.

A long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, I talked about what McDermott can bring to the Bulls in the future.

Give the kid some (playing) time and confidence and let him do the rest. He’s as talented offensively as any player from this year’s class.
