The Bears must keep their emotions in check.
There is going to be a lot of emotion in this game, especially early and late. When Lovie takes the field, there will be a lot of cheers coming from the fans. Lovie was a fan favorite, and left on fairly good terms. Considering how much the Bears are struggling with Trestman, the fans will be nostalgic and look at the good Lovie did in Chicago, and forget all the bad he had as well.
A lot of these players, Lance Briggs, Jay Cutler, Tim Jennngs, Matt Forte and others played under Lovie and loved him. He was a great players’ coach. They have to put those feelings aside, though, and get to the business of beating the Bucs. They can be nostalgic after the game, and after a victory.
The defense has to go after Josh McCown. I mean, it’s not like he spent his entire career in Chicago and just left. He had one good year as a backup. He is not a legend.
The coaches say this is just another game, but it isn’t. That’s okay. As long as all those emotions are set aside between kickoff and the final gun, things should be normal. After the game, they all can have a hugfest on the field if they want.
