Chicago Bears Week 8: What To Look For

Use Alshon Jeffery more.
Two catches for nine yards? TWO FOR NINE?
Alshon Jeffery is the big play guy for the Bears. He goes over the top of the defense and he burns them. If the ball is anywhere near his hands, those big mitts of his will grab it.
For some reason, Cutler did not go to Jeffery. On a few occasions, I saw Jeffery wide open, but the ball was not thrown his way. On the last drive, Jeffrey ran an out and was on the sidelines inside the 20 with no one within five yards of him. He could have gotten the ball, and either get out of bounds or turn and try for the end zone. Instead, Cutler went for Marshall in the end zone, who was double covered.Of course, it was an incomplete pass.
Cutler at times is too dependent on Marshall. Marshall is great and all, but if he is double teamed and Jeffery is left open, the ball has to get to him. Jeffery has shown that he is a dependable receiver who should get his fair share of the catches.
Jeffery is the perfect complement to Marshall. He stretches out the defense, while Marshall gets the catches underneath. They both mesh well together, but both need to be targeted.
Jeffery is an important weapon at Cutler’s disposal, and should be utilized. Not involving him in the offense is a second reason why this offense is inconsistent.
