How Did You Do?

Question #1: Jonathan Toews became Captain in 2009. Who was the last Blackhawks Captain before Toews?

Answer: Adrian Aucoin

Aucoin, as mentioned, came over to much fan fare and was immediately thrust into the role of captain for a bad Blackhawks team. Ruutu was somewhat pegged as the captain of the future, but never got that role. Instead the team transitioned from Aucoin to Toews. Good choice.

Question #2: Which player scored only 5 goals with the Hawks, yet netted career goal no.500 in 2006

Answer: Peter Bondra

Bondra came over from Capitals and immediately gave the Hawks a bright spot in an otherwise dull season. Hard to believe we used to attribute the Hawks with dull.

Question #3: Jim Vandermeer played 3 seasons with the Hawks before being traded to Philadelphia for which Winger?

Answer: Ben Eager

Eager didn’t provide much for the Hawks, but did score a game-winning goal against his former team in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. Otherwise, neither player added much to either side in this small trade.

Question #4: Which one of these former Starting Goalies never played for the Hawks?

Answer: Manny Legace

Legace played for the Red Wings, Blues, Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings. Caron played one game for the Hawks while both Anderson and Leighton began their careers with the Hawks,

Question #5: Pat Foley has taken two leaves from broadcasting Hawks’ games. One, in the early 80’s was covered by Ken Wilson, who was the announcer for the Hawks for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons.

Answer: Dan Kelly

Kelly took over for two season while Foley went to broadcast Wolves games. His stay wasn’t long lived, and he now does what you could call broadcasting odd-jobs around the country.
