Another prospect who has had a nice run is Arismendy Alcantara. He’s one of those what do we do with this guy prospects. Only so many spots to put this kid. With second base pegged for Baez or maybe even Castro, and a log jam at 3rd base the infield holds few options. Between he Baez and Castro, there’s a middle infield that should be a mainstay for the next 8-10 years or beyond. Olt is making a case for a permanent say at 3rd with Bryant making a case to stay there as well. The outfield has Soler, and Almora surely cemented there so perhaps he can play center, but that’s Almora’s position. Lake is also making a case to stay at one of the corner spots if Bryant stays at third. But with numbers like Alcantara’s it would be wise to find someplace for this kid on the roster. He’s slashing 281/.321/.520 on the year, and his walk rate has improved at 8.7% in may. Hope that rends continues as last season he was an OBP machine.
