Theo Epstein clearly knows that in order to bring the Cubs closer to contender sooner he has to have Javier Baez realize that immense potential of his. Baez is a franchise changing prospect that can vault a team to greatness almost single handed. Of course he isn’t alone as the Cubs have many A level prospects to go along with several B level prospects that could make the Cubs an all time great team. This is why Manny Ramirez is here. Baez has that special talent that Ramirez had with one difference. Ramirez was a tactician as well as a power hitter. One that would work counts and make pitchers pay for a mistake. A contact hitter with pop if you will. Many short sighted media members, and fans have already ignorantly spoken against this move, but I for one think this is a low risk high reward move that could pay off big, and one that was well worth exploring.
