The Bears do have an interesting TE prospect who was a former basketball player and is relatively new to the game of football in Fendi Onobun. As a matter of fact he was teammates with Bears current starting TE Bennett.  He brings that special type of athleticism to the position -like a Julius Thomas for example- who too was an ex basketball player turned TE.  Onobun struggled to catch the ball during the pre-season and training camp, and was stashed on the practice squad. Bears are high on him and feel he can be very special as he is almost impossible to match up with considering his size, speed, and athleticism. It’s very possible they draft no TE’s because of this, but might get one as a priority free agent.  A couple of these names on this very blog may actually go un-drafted. However if provided with tremendous value at the TE position during anyone of their 7 picks I would not be surprised if Phil Emery pulls the trigger on one regardless of which pick it’s at. Bennett suffered through a shoulder injury all last season , and even admitted that he was advised to get surgery on a broken rib as well, but decided against it, and let it heal naturally. So getting a capable back up as well as a compliment on 2 TE sets or in the elephant packages would be most advisable.
