1:59 PM: Waiting for post-deadline announcements

Not much has happened trade wise in the past thirty minutes. Boston acquired Andrej Meszaros from the Flyers for a third round pick and it’s rumored that a deal to send Matt Moulson from the Buffalo Sabres to the Minnesota Wild is complete, but there has yet to be confirmation.

In the meantime, trades may have been submitted to the league and are awaiting final approval. I’ll update once I hear anything.

1:25 PM: Thomas to Dallas, Schulz to Columbus, Rumors coming in strong

A day after acquiring Roberto Luongo, the Panthers have traded Tim Thomas to the Dallas Stars. Luongo emotionally tweeted out “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” upon hearing the news.

The Oilers have also dealt defenseman Nick Schultz to Columbus for a 5th round pick.

Bob McKenzie tweeted there may be news on the Matt Moulson front.
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

“Matt Moulson to MIN is a possibility.”

1:00 PM: Ruutu to Devils, Goc to Penguins (UPDATE)

(Update) It’s being reported that Andrei Lokitonov will be sent to Carolina in exchange for Ruutu.

With one hour remaining until the deadline, Tuomo Ruutu is being sent to the New Jersey Devils from Carolina Hurricanes. The return is not known yet but it appears to be a cost cutting move on Carolina’s end.

Pittsburgh has also acquired center Marcel Goc from the Panthers for two draft picks. This may indicate they are out on Ryan Kesler.

12:45 PM: Brodeur’s Status Still Up In Air

Martin Brodeur’s name has been heavily discussed the past few days as a trade candidate. Hoping to give one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history one last run at the cup, Darren Dreger reported earlier that Brodeur has a list of 8-9 teams he would waive his No Movement Clause for. Dreger recently tweeted that Devils GM Lou Lamoriello hasn’t revealed much recently regarding Brodeur’s status.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

“Lou Lamoriello true to form is not sharing his position with Brodeur or anyone else. They spoke this am, but no sense of direction.”

12:37 PM: Gaborik To Kings Finalized

As per Pierre LeBrun, the LA Kings have bolstered their offense by acquiring winger Marian Gaborik from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

“LA Kings have acquired Marian Gaborik _ still pending trade call however”

11:56 AM: Canadians Acquire Dubnyk

Not a trade, but a transaction nonetheless. Boston claims Corey Potter while the Buffalo Sabres have claimed Cory Conacher

10:47 AM: More details on TB/NYR Deal

The Lightning will also receive 1st and 2nd round pick from the Rangers. The 2nd round pick (2014) becomes a 1st if the Rangers reach the Conference Finals. If Callahan resigns in Tampa, the Rangers will receive Tampa’s 2nd rounder in 2014.

10:22 St. Louis/Callahan Trade Confirmed

Canadian Hockey Journalist Renaud Lavoie with the confirmation.

Renaud Lavoie ‏@LavoieRenaud

“Confirming Martin St-Louis is traded to the Rangers for Ryan Callahan. #lightning #tvasports”

10:15 AM: Gaborik To Kings, St.Louis/Callahan Swapping Uniforms?

If true, these trades could be today’s blockbusters. Check out the tweets below for details.

Michael Russo (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
Michael Russo ‏@Russostrib

“Hate to backtrack on Twitter (always fun), but now told Gaborik to #lakings is not quite done deal. Source is close to Gaborik tho”

Bob McKenzie (TSN)
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

“No official confirmations (yet) but hearing NYR are prepared to trade Callahan, plus 1st rd pick and 2nd rd pick for Marty St. Louis. Close.”

9:52 AM: Gillis not authorized to trade Kesler?

Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune is reporting that Vancouver ownership is hesitant to let GM Mike Gillis authorize a trade of Ryan Kesler. Pittsburgh has been listed as a possible destination for Kesler and if this rumor is true, indicates Mike Gillis’ days are numbered.

9:30 AM
ESPN Chicago ‏@ESPNChiHawks

“Source says Hurricanes’ Manny Malhotra has been associated with Blackhawks’ trade talks.”

9:24 AM
Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun

“As for any speculation about Kesler and Chicago, told by Hawks source that they are NOT in on that. Also not looking for a backup goalie”

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

When looking at Brodeur trade possibilities, important to note Marty doesn’t have to be number one. Just the right opportunity/change.
