10 Matt Eberflus Replacements Bears Should Already Be Hunting
By Todd Welter
2. Kliff Kingsbury
This makes sense since Kingsbury worked with Williams at USC. Jayden Daniels is thriving with Kingsbury as his offensive coordinator. Kingsbury time as the Arizona Cardinals' head coach overall was not very good, he did make the playoffs in 2021.
There is one reason he might not be a fit and that is the Bears decided not to hire him as the offensive coordinator this year. A mistake the team should regret and possibly might come with some hard feelings.
3. Lincoln Riley
The shine might be starting to wear off on Riley as USC continues to decline. He did help Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Williams win the Heisman and be the No. 1 overall pick.
Williams did great under Riley at USC, and his offensive concepts might work in the NFL. The only thing Riley needs is someone to run the defense for him.
4. Todd Monken
Monken has the Baltimore Ravens offense at the top of the NFL. Last year, Baltimore's offense was fourth in scoring after he took over as the OC. He also was the offensive coordinator at Georgia on their two national championship teams.
He is a lifer as an assistant coach, but at least he comes from the offensive side of the ball.
5. Bobby Slowik
C.J. Stroud had the best rookie season of any quarterback anyone has ever seen. Houston is figuring out life is a bit hard now that they are the hunted.
Plus, dealing with injuries on the offensive side of the ball has taken the shine off of Slowik. However, the Texans are still 10th in the NFL in yardage. It would be nice to have the offensive coordinator who helped design an offense that allowed Stroud to thrive do the same with Williams.
6. Brian Griese
He helped Brock Purdy turn into a solid quarterback. Griese also knows what it is like to play quarterback in Chicago.
He is now the QB's coach for San Francisco. He is likely the only name currently on Kyle Shanahan's or Sean McVay's coaching staff that is not tainted from leaving them.
Mike LaFleur was not a good play-caller in New York. Dave Ragone is the Rams' quarterback coach, and well, he was part of Mitchell Tribusky's failure.
