Less than a day after the Bulls selected him fourth overall, Caleb Wilson has made it abundantly clear that he isn't arriving with modest ambitions. The 18 year old forward told reporters he wants to be "the greatest player of all time", and he isn't afraid to say it out loud.
It's very difficult for any player drafted by the Bulls to not at least comment on the massive shoes they've just put on. Before you ever step onto the court for the team, you're automatically going to be compared to Mike, and there's no avoiding it. Coming into this city to ball is no small thing to do. You're attempting to stand where he stood. Trying to do it with confidence the way Wilson is is pretty much the only way to do it.
Caleb Wilson's mentality is exactly what the Bulls drafted.
"I mean, my work ethic comes from me being hungry, man. I mean, I'm always gonna do whatever it takes to get better. I wanna be the greatest player of all time, and y'all got one of the GOATs in y'all history right now, so it's time for another one. So, I just wanna, I'm hungry, man. I'm hungry to be the greatest. That's me."Caleb Wilson

Wilson is already being hailed as the next generation to step into the shoes left behind by Derek Rose. They happen to be the very shoes worn by Jordan himself, yes, but things have changed in the last thirty years. It's refreshing to see a young face take up the mantle and understand the task assigned to him.
Wilson focuses on the word hungry, a topic that many many Bulls fans can relate to. When we're talking about performance based work ethic, hungry is a good state to be in. At only 18 years old, Wilson has a long future ahead of him where he can really carve his name into Chicago history.
Wilson's confidence alone won't determine whether he becomes the next great Bulls star, but it's certainly the mindset Chicago wants to see from a top draft pick. For a franchise searching for its next cornerstone player, Wilson's hunger may be the most encouraging part of his introduction.
