Jose Quintana leads the Chicago Cubs into action on Sunday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. Find out all the information needed to watch this game against two bitter rivals.

On Friday, the St. Louis Cardinals exploded for nine runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Chicago Cubs by a score of 11-4. The Cubs were able to get one back on Saturday, coming from behind to beat the Cardinals 3-2. Now, the two National League Central foes will face off in the rubber match of their three-game series live on Sunday Night Baseball.

Starting pitchers

Jose Quintana will make his second start for the Cubs on Sunday night. He made his Cubs debut exactly a week ago, absolutely dominating the Baltimore Orioles. Quintana pitched seven shutout innings last Sunday, allowing only three hits in the game. He recorded an impressive 12 strikeouts and did not walk a single batter.

The Cubs traded a haul for Quintana and he proved worth the acquisition price in his first start. Jon Lester similarly dominant against the Cardinals on Saturday. Quintana and Lester are both similar pitchers who rely on command, consistency and keeping the ball down. As long as Quintana is hitting his spots, expect him to have a big game against the Cardinals.

More from Chicago Cubs

The Cardinals will send right-hander Michael Wacha to the mound to face Quintana in this one. Wacha has been a bit inconsistent this season, but his overall numbers are strong. He has a 3.71 ERA, 3.34 FIP and 23.7% strikeout rate in 17 starts for the Cardinals this season, according to FanGraphs. He has been even better recently, allowing only three runs through 26.2 innings in his last four starts.

The Cubs’ offense can score against anybody, but they will have their work cut out against Wacha on Sunday.
