T.J. Watt is a strong 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears.

The 2017 NFL Draft is going to be here before we know it. In order to prepare, we at Da Windy City are profiling a different possible 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears each and every day. Up next is Wisconsin edge rusher, T.J. Watt.

The former Badger is best known for being J.J. Watt‘s younger brother. When your brother is a dominant NFL defender and arguably the most recognizable player in the league, I suppose it is easy for that to happen. However, Watt has the skills to make a name for himself at the next level.

Watt is a quick and athletic rusher who shows tremendous burst off of the line of scrimmage. He has good length for the position and an advanced repertoire of pass rush moves. Watt can attack the quarterback with consistency from the edge.

He has the skillset to compete but his motor separates him from the others. Watt is an extremely hard-working and dependable player who is always playing until the whistle. Speed and athleticism are important on the outside, but a guy being a relentless attacker on the edge with a high motor is an underrated skill.

While pass rushing is his forte, Watt does well against the run as well. He shows strong natural instincts against the run and can certainly set the edge. He will at least be able to hold serve against the run at the next level. Watt is a true three-down player.

I wouldn’t call edge rusher a huge need for the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. They landed Leonard Floyd in the top ten last year and also have impact rushers like Pernell McPhee and Willie Young. However, you can never have too many guys who can get after the quarterback. Adding Watt to the mix would benefit the Bears right now and give them a tremendous young pass rushing duo to build their defense around.

Watt to Chicago may not be particularly likely, but he is a great football player who would fit their defense extremely well. I would not be shocked if Watt is under heavy consideration for the Bears. He will likely be on their radar with their early second-round pick.
