Florida Cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor is a strong 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears.

As the 2017 NFL Draft quickly approaches, we at Da Windy City continue to give you a possible draft target for the Chicago Bears on a daily basis. Up next is Florida cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor who has seen his stock drop since the end of the college football season.

Tabor was one of the best cornerbacks in college football last season. He shows impressive natural coverage ability on the outside, consistently shutting down the receiver in front of him.

At 6-0, 199 pounds with 32-inch arms, Tabor has good size and length for the position. He also shows nice quickness in short spaces and solid overall athleticism. Most importantly, Tabor’s natural man-to-man skills are impressive. He is a sticky defender who shows the ability to mirror a receiver extremely well.

Tabor’s tape is impressive, but there are some doubts about his ability at the next level. Most notably, there are concerns about his deep speed.

Tabor ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash at the combine, an ugly number for a cornerback. He had a chance to improve on that time at his Pro Day, but Tabor actually ran his 40-yard dash slower, clocking in at 4.75 at best.

There were already concerns about Tabor’s speed but those numbers are scary. Tabor will undoubtedly need over-the-top help in the NFL with those kinds of numbers. He was once considered a first-round prospect but that is no longer the case.

Tabor may not great speed, but his tape does not lie. This guy looks like an NFL-caliber cornerback on tape. He is probably not ever going to be a number one, but Tabor has the overall skill set to compete at a high level.

At worst, his impressive ball skills and instincts in coverage would translate well to the safety position. The Chicago Bears have obvious needs all across the secondary and I could see then finding value in Tabor slipping.

If he falls to the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Tabor needs to be on the Bears’ radar. He could be a major steal in that range.
