The Chicago Bears seem to be on an endless quest for safeties who can stick around. Here are some free agents who can help.

We are a couple of weeks removed from the Super Bowl, and a couple of weeks away from a new NFL season and free agency. Teams are looking at certain players who can become free agents, to see how they can fit their own systems and help them win.

The Chicago Bears are expected to be big players in the upcoming free agency rush. They have cleared some contracts (over $60 million and counting so far) and have some holes to fit.

It seems that the Bears have been on a never-ending quest to find safeties who can stick around and make an impact. The list is long and unproductive. Major Wright, Chris Conte, Craig Steltz, Danieal Manning, Brandon Meriweather, Sherrod Martin, Brandon Hardin and Adrian Wilson are but a few of the failed experiments.

You might also add Alan Ball and Antrel Rolle to that list.

The Chicago Bears will probably pick a safety up in the draft (for the thirtieth year in a row), but Ryan Pace and company may go with a veteran.

Here are some safeties who may be able to solidify the Chicago Bears’ safety slot, and hopefully end that search, at least for the time being):
