The quarterback depth chart should not come as too much of a surprise. Bears’ head coach Marc Trestman has insisted throughout training camp that Palmer would have the first opportunity to be the Bears’ backup quarterback. That would be why Palmer is listed as the Bears’ No. 2 quarterback ahead of the team’s Pre-Season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite Palmer having the early advantage, the belief is that Clausen will indeed be the one to be the backup to Cutler once the regular season starts.
