5. Strong Safety

For the last two offseasons, the Bears have signed players to cheap one-year deals in hopes of finding a long-term solution to the strong safety position. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix occupied the strong safety role in 2019 and now Tashaun Gipson will be Eddie Jackson‘s running mate in 2020.

With Gipson on a one-year deal, the Bears will need to address strong safety somehow in 2021. Essentially, this will be the franchises third straight offseason having to find someone to play next to Jackson.

Some point to Deon Bush, who’s already on the roster as a potential candidate to take over in 2021. While the Bears retained Bush on a one-year deal this offseason, he’s shown flashes of what he can be but has yet to prove that he can be a full-time starter.

Next. Chicago Bears: Russell Wilson an eventual trade candidate. dark

The best way for the Bears to address strong safety in 2021 will be by drafting someone. The biggest advantage of this would be that there would be a long-term replacement to play next to Jackson for the next four years.
