Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Draft: Most likely players to drop to pick 43
By Ryan Heckman
Wide Receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., Colorado
Lastly, the Bears could be looking at wideout Laviska Shenault Jr. falling to them at 43. Many have him pegged as a late-first prospect at the highest and a mid-to-late second rounder at the lowest.
The 6-foot-1 receiver out of Colorado has an ideal frame to play in the NFL. He’s a big guy at 227 pounds and his strength shows after the catch. He’s a tough receiver to play against in man coverage, mainly because Shenault is physical enough to body-up opposing corners.
Shenault has plenty enough speed, although his 40-time doesn’t show it — he ran a 4.58. He mixes true speed with overall quickness to be able to get himself open and in position to make catches, even if they appear contested.
Having experience lining up all over the place, Shenault would be a welcome weapon in Chicago. He’s played outside, in the slot and even ran the ball out of the back field. In fact, he carried the ball 42 times for 280 yards and seven touchdowns over his collegiate career.
As a receiver, Shenault caught 142 passes for 1,775 yards and 10 touchdowns over his final two seasons with Colorado. A receiver like him would give the Bears quarterbacks another sure-handed option who rarely drops passes and makes tough grabs on the regular.
