Young Core

The Chicago Blackhawks have seen a young core they built in the 2000s become legends by the end of the 2010s. Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Corey Crawford are all drafted and developed by Chicago. They became the greatest core this team has ever seen grace its sweater. Well, they are all getting on the older side now but most of them still have some gas left in the tank.

With that said, it is important that the team gets the supporting cast much younger and ready to go for when they move on. Dylan Strome can be a part of that mix. He just turned 23 back in March and guys like Alex DeBrincat, Adam Boqvist, Kirby Dach, and Ian Mitchell are all younger than him. There are also some players who are still younger than 30 like Brandon Saad and Dominik Kubalik ready to win again.

Must Read. Patrick Kane's comments are a cause for concern. light

When the legends are gone, the young guys will be firmly in their prime and ready to go. Hockey has developed into a young man’s game that has the old guys trying to keep up. Kane and Toews are still going to be elite for a while but having young players might keep them at that level and extend it for a while. Strome is a big part of that which is why they should hang onto him if at all possible.
