Chicago bulls swingman Zach LaVine is enjoying a career season and is heating up even more lately, just in time for an All Star Game selection.

NBA All Star voting closed this week, and it seems as though Chicago Bulls stud Zach LaVine has a strong shot to make it as a reserve.

LaVine had been having a solid season for most of the year, but it’s been over the last few weeks that he’s really turned it on. His best performance of the year came in late November in a comeback win over the Charlotte Hornets, where he hit 13 threes and finished with 49 points. But, again, he’s really been consistent over his last 10 or so games.

During his last 10 contests, LaVine has posted nearly 30 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals.

He has seemed to have his bigger games when the Bulls mount a comeback, which is interesting. Just last Saturday, LaVine finished with 42 points, six boards and five steals as Chicago came back to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers at the United Center.

A common theme with this Bulls team is coming back to beat bad teams — I get it. The Bulls have been a bad team themselves, this year, once again. Fans are used to it. Yet, there’s something to be said about a guy like LaVine who won’t allow himself to cash it in for the night. He continues to battle, no matter what.

On the season, LaVine is averaging 25.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals. This should easily be more than enough to get him into the All Star Game, especially with how he’s played the last few weeks when voting becomes crucial. He’s battled it out with Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry down the stretch, but we’ll see how the voting closed out.

Fans may not have a lot to cheer for this season, but seeing LaVine in the All Star Game would go a long way for the team, especially when the festivities are held in Chicago this year.

One other aspect of this to watch is whether or not LaVine winds up in the Slam Dunk Contest. He has told media he’s waiting to find out if he’ll be an All Star or not, before he makes the decision about the Slam Dunk Contest.

Wouldn’t that be something for the city of Chicago? Seeing LaVine in both the Slam Dunk Contest and the All Star Game — it would be a breath of fresh air, honestly. Let’s hope he gets in and finds it in himself to accept the invite for Saturday night as well.
