Wisconsin. Zack Baun. 7. player. 809. Pick Analysis. Scouting Report. EDGE

This could be a pipe dream, but if Zack Baun is on the board in the seventh round, there is no way the Bears don’t pull the trigger. At the moment, he’s been graded anywhere from the fourth round all the way down to the seventh round, depending on the outlet you check.

We’re going with more of a Christmas wish list feel, here, though. So, let’s say Baun is on the board in the seventh round. I actually like him more than Garvin, to be quite honest.

The thing scouts aren’t crazy about with Baun, though, is that he doesn’t have the length you’d like to see at the position. He’s not as big as other edge rushers in his class — just 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. He beats blockers more with his tenacity and tough play style. If he doesn’t get a quick first step, though, he can easily be blocked.

However, Baun is a smart player who operates well within stunts and beating tackles inside rather than outside on occasion.

This season with the Badgers, Baun finished with 70 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, two passes defended, two forced fumbles, an interception and a defensive touchdown.

Other names on the list at pick no. 209:

Baron Browning, LB, Ohio State

Jaron Bryant, CB, Fresno State

Tariq Castro-Fields, CB, Penn State

Steven Montez, QB, Colorado

David Reese II, LB, Florida

Bears: 3 trades to start thinking about now. dark. Next

Keep in mind, if the rankings and projections don’t change by draft day, we’re doing something wrong. For now, hopefully this gets everybody excited for the offseason and a chance to see these Bears improve. Until next time, Bear Down.
