S. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Jordan Fuller. 5. 812

With the Bears’ third pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, at no. 140 overall, I have them snagging Ohio State safety Jordan Fuller. This is definitely an upside pick, as Fuller has a few things he can work on to become a solid pro. For that reason, Fuller may come in as a backup to begin with.

The Bears need to find an immediate replacement for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who will be a free agent after this one-year deal is up next spring. Eddie Jackson isn’t going anywhere, but that’s never been a question. The Bears will, however, likely see Deon Bush leave via free agency. He very well could land a starting job elsewhere.

Fuller is a larger safety at 6-foot-2, but he is a fantastic athlete. He’s very quick and possesses above-average speed. This last year, his production dipped a bit from his 2018 campaign — although he has yet to play his playoff games, so it could be a bit closer when it’s all said and done. In 2018, though, he finished with a team-leading 81 total tackles (as opposed to 57 in 2019).

Fuller certainly could improve upon his tackling angles. This is an area he will have to grow. He tends to over pursue at times, thus whiffing on attempts. But, his speed, athleticism and nose for the ball make him tough to pass up.

Other names on the list at pick no. 140:

Julian Blackmon, S, Utah

Trevon Hill, EDGE, Miami (FL)

Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri

J.R. Reed, S, Georgia
