Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Midseason Edition
By Usayd Koshul
7. Round Seven, Pick 205: DT Davon Hamilton, Ohio State
Interior defensive line isn’t the biggest need for the Bears due to guys like Eddie Goldman and Nick Williams but after watching Davon Hamilton, he’s a guy who’s worth keeping an eye on. A senior at Ohio State, Hamilton is quietly having a good season. He’s used to playing inside at a 4-3 defensive tackle and has posted 16.5 tackles for loss and four sacks during his time at Ohio State.
Perhaps the biggest thing to like about Hamilton is his size. At six-foot-four and 310 pounds, Hamilton has proven that he can take on double teams. He’s also a very smart player that has the ability to read plays pre-snap and decide what to do quickly. While he may not necessarily stuff the stat sheet in terms of sacks, he does at least get into the backfield quickly to get after running backs and the quarterback to disrupt plays.
As of right now, it’s clear that Hamilton doesn’t seem like he’s being talked about enough. Like many other draft prospects, he could quickly rise up the board meaning he probably won’t be available on day three of the draft. However, as of right now, he’s essentially a hidden gem that’s waiting to be discovered.
