Chicago Blackhawks: Central Division preview for 2019-20
Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets are one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the National Hockey League. The reason is that they have so much firepower. They can score in bunches and can get scoring from many different parts of their lineup. They are hoping to have everybody there once again this year and if that is the case, they should be playoff contenders once again.
Last year, they were the second-place team in the Central Division with a record of 47-30-5 which was good enough for 99 standings points. It was a really good season for the Jets but they were defeated by the eventual champions in the St. Louis Blues. It is a team with Cup aspirations so losing in the first round was devastating, even if it was to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions.
The Jets are absolutely loaded at the forward position. They have superstars like Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Kyle Connor, and Patrik Laine. They can score and score a lot. They traded their best defenseman in Jacob Trouba to the New York Rangers over the summer which is a blow to their blue line, but they still have a guy like Dustin Byfuglien to lead them.
The Blackhawks struggled against the Jets last year. They didn’t get a single win and only mustered up two out of eight points going 0-2-2. The Blackhawks are going to need to be better against the Jets this season. Getting no wins against any division rival is unacceptable. The Blackhawks appear to be a bubble team in the Western Conference so a win here or a win there could make or break their playoff chances.
This is going to be a fantastic division from top to bottom in 2019-20 and one that every hockey fan is going to want to tune into every night. The Blackhawks have a chance to compete with these teams and they are all going to be very exciting. There will be no nights off or easy games when it comes to games against their division rivals.
